Earlier this week, we spent a day on the Lizard with Ray and Jeremy from Natural England. We talked to them about Natural England’s policies on climate change, how that knowledge is communicated to their local audiences and the possible impacts of climate change on the future landscape of the Lizard. Cinnamon buns aided conversation considerably. Thanks for the coffee, guys!
After lunch we headed out to look at an area of Natural England land on the Lizard. The site where land management techniques, the local community, landowners and the environment meet: the cattlegrid. We talked about its role and placement within the landscape and its reception. The tale of the cattlegrid is set to run and run, but it is in these everyday examples that responses to climate change are experienced and lived.
Ray also pointed out the wind turbines that are being taken down and replaced with a taller, more efficient version.
